Repair My Credit !

by Vincent Polisi on November 12, 2009

If you have ever said to yourselfI’d like to repair my credit score but I don’t know where to start”, you will want to read on. Specifically, we are going to discuss why your credit score is so important, how to understand where you are now, and why it is so important to learn everything you can about how the credit system works.

After reading this, you should be prepared to take control of your future. Hopefully in a few short months you will be telling your friends and family “Not only did I learn how to repair my credit rating… I did it!

Now – what is the big deal? Why do I need to repair my credit history? Can’t I just stop using credit? Why does everyone make such a big deal about credit score repair?

In a perfect world the answer would be yes! After all, using credit can lead to a lot of problems and if you don’t rely on credit it is so much easier to live within your means.

The unfortunate reality is that living without credit or with bad credit makes life very difficult. Not only can you not buy a home or car when you need to, but bad credit transfers over into other areas of your life. Shopping online or renting a car become impossible because you don’t have a credit card. Did you know that bad credit can also impact your ability to get a new job or even be promoted at the job you currently have? Also, certain types of insurance can be difficult to get if you have bad credit.

So, if you are attempting to repair your credit, what is the first step?

Just like anything else, you can’t know where you are going if you don’t know where you are. The first step to credit repair is to get a copy of your credit report. You can do this at http://www.annualcreditreport.com.

Once you have your credit report, you want to review it with a fine tooth comb. Highlight or make a detailed list of any and all inaccuracies on your credit report.

Next, it’s time to educate yourself! I firmly believe that staying in control of the credit repair process is a critical part of financial success. Sure, you can hire a credit repair company, but why? There is nothing they can do for you that you can’t do for yourself. More importantly, if you take the time to learn about credit, you can accomplish far more on your own than any company could ever do for you.

So, what do you need to learn about before you repair your own credit? Here is an overview:

• How to read your credit report – The main parts and what they mean
• What an average score is and how you rank
• How to stop collectors from calling
• How the dispute process works and how it can jumpstart your credit repair process
• How debt validation can erase collection accounts
• Advanced strategies for when the normal methods don’t work
• What zombie debt is and how to get rid of yours!

Now, you may be asking, can’t you help repair my credit? The answer…yes! Just enroll in Credit Repair College to the right and you will get step by step video training on the credit repair process! (Click on the get my free CD button to get started!

There are three major Credit Bureaus: Equifax, TransUnion, and Experian.

The three credit reporting agencies collect information from lenders and then sell this information to other lenders, insurance companies, employers and anyone else who has a legitimate reason to pull credit.

Most people think that when there is something inaccurate in their credit report, that it is the credit bureau that is at fault. This is not true!

The credit bureaus collect data. They do not verify ANYTHING unless you initiate a dispute!

Yep – that is right. Your Credit Report is a collection of unverified information unless you get involved! The lenders can report anything to your credit bureau without verifying the accuracy of it.

So, if you ever wondered why it is so important to review your credit report regularly now you know!
