Many people do searches on the internet trying to find affordable credit repair or even free credit repair. There is nothing wrong with this – after all learning to be thrifty is one of the most important parts of permanent credit restoration.
But, before you decide to go down the path of cheap credit repair, you need to take an honest look at yourself and your situation and see if it can work for you.
Are you prepared to be involved?
Any cheap credit repair service likely is not going to put that much time into your credit repair. How can they? Credit restoration takes time and if you aren’t paying much, they won’t be able to help you much. Just like everything else in life, you get what you pay for when you pick a credit repair company.
The best option for affordable credit repair is to learn how to do it yourself. Yes, it will cost you time and a good credit education can cost a little money. But, in the end, you will be in control of your finances and once you have the knowledge it is yours for a lifetime. (Besides, aren’t you tired of being in the dark?)
You should understand that you will need to set aside time each week to work on your credit. In the beginning, it could take you an hour or more, but over time the amount of time it will take you each week will go down.
The first step is education
Most people make serious mistakes when they attempt to repair their own credit. Sometimes they do things (like pay off collections) that they think would raise their credit score only to find that their score is actually lowered. For this reason, you need to seek out a good credit education before you do anything.
Yes, you can get a lot of good information for free on blogs (like this one) and all over the internet. But, that isn’t the same as taking a compressive credit repair course.
Now, I am prejudice, but I think the course we have here at Credit Repair College is the tops. It offers you short videos you can watch at your convenience so you aren’t stuck trying to wade through a 200 page book. (Which can be helpful if you have insomnia but otherwise doesn’t work for most people.) Plus, we have over 23 years of credit experience between us. We’ve owned mortgage companies, worked for banks and I was even an underwriter for quite a few years. On top of that, thanks to the collapse of the mortgage industry we’ve even been through credit challenges ourselves. So, we know what we are talking about when it comes to credit repair.
If you haven’t already, now is a great time to check out our , Free CD and get a two week trial to Credit Repair College. Or, at the very least, sign up for our free 10 part e-course on credit repair to the right.
The real key is persistence
The real key to success with credit restoration and credit repair is sticking with it. It is going to take you some time, but you CAN fix your own credit. (And yes, there are some strategies that actually work for fast credit repair!)
If you don’t think you have the time, commitment or persistence to stay the course, then you should forget trying to repair your own credit. You will only get frustrated and be disappointed with your results. If that is the case, you should hire a credit repair company. Just make sure you hire a reputable one! I have seen countless people get scammed out of money by credit repair companies that promised the world but failed to deliver. Here is my pick:
Lexington Law is the trusted leader in credit repair. Having served over 200,000 clients since 1991, they have the experience necessary to make credit repair work for you.
