There are many reasons that you might feel you need extra cash. You may have lost your job or be overwhelmed by debt. Or, maybe you are trying to improve your credit and are in need of funds to pay off old debts.
Whatever your motivations, the good news is that there are many ways to earn extra cash!
One of the easies ways to get extra cash is to sell stuff. This is something I have personally done with great success. It is amazing how much people are willing to pay for the junk you have in your garage!
The best strategy I have found uses a combination of Craig’s List and Google pages. Google offers a free resource where just about anyone can create a free web page in a matter of minutes. If you have quite a few items to sell, you can use this to create an organized, multi-page website for all of the items you are selling. Create a page for each category of items you are selling and then make a list of all of the categories on your home page. As an example, you would have a page for “baby items”, “furniture” and “books”, and then list all of these categories on your home page.
You can then create an ad in Craig’s List for each of your items that you are selling. At the bottom of each ad, put a statement like this: “For more items for sale, please visit http://www.YOUR WEBSITE URL.”
You will be shocked at how easy making extra cash is using this strategy. The response you get from Craig’s List Ads will generally double! Why? People generally don’t have enough time to do everything they want to do. So, while coming over to see a $10 item may not be worth it, if you have 5 items that they may be interested in, all of a sudden it can become worth there time.
If dealing with people stopping by rummaging through items in your garage isn’t appealing, there are still other ways you can get extra cash selling things.
If you have books to sell, amazon.com and half.com are great solutions that I highly recommend! You can list each book that you have for sale and you will get a email if they are sold. You will then need to ship the books, but you can generally just plan on shipping once or twice a week, depending on the volume of your sales. If going to the post office doesn’t bother you, this is a great way to make extra cash.
One warning that I would give you with regards to book sales – be very careful with companies that have their own website that offer to pick up your books and handle the shipping in exchange for a portion of the sales. I did this during a very busy time in my life because I had a newborn and a one year old and didn’t have the time to run to the post office every week. I knew I was going to be moving so I had one of these companies pick up a CAR LOAD full of hardback books.
Everything was fine for the first two months…and then I never heard from them again. They probably had over 500 books of mine.
I am sure there are some good companies out there. Just be careful and make sure they have more going for them than a pretty website.
For higher end items that are easy to ship, EBay is another great way to earn extra cash online. I have used it to sell everything from camera equipment I no longer needed to a baby hammock that my son wouldn’t spend 5 minutes in! It is a great way to get good money for your unused items.
Earning extra cash is easy if you just take the time to look around the house. Plus, when you are done with all that cleaning out, you will have cleared the way for more abundance to come your way!
